Matika Westgate: The Warrior Who Chose Hope
Updated: Oct 2
Beyond The Story With Andrea: Written by Andrea Benitez

Mattika Westgate’s extraordinary journey of creativity, compassion, resilience, and a vision created to inspire the world.
Some people are recognized for the titles they carry. Others are remembered for the hope they leave in the hearts of those they meet.
Mattika Westgate is an entrepreneur, writer, author, filmmaker, actress, martial artist, humanitarian, community leader, and Guinness World Records™ title holder. Yet her accomplishments reveal only one part of who she truly is.
Behind the awards, books, screenplays, businesses, and international projects is a woman shaped by her Thai roots, her Buddhist faith, the guidance of her family, and a lifetime of turning challenges into purpose.
Mattika’s strength is not expressed through recognition alone. It is found in her discipline, compassion, humility, and determination to use her experiences to lift others. Her writing gives a voice to her imagination, while her films allow that imagination to cross borders and bring people together.
Throughout the years, Mattika and I have become friends. My admiration for her vision, dedication, and extraordinary work is filled with genuine love and respect. I am deeply honored not only to witness her journey, but also to "call Mattika my dear friend".
We also share a meaningful spiritual connection. Mattika and I are both Buddhist, and our beliefs are centered on love, peace, compassion, and respect for all life. This shared foundation has strengthened our friendship and helped me understand the heart behind her vision.
Her commitment to kindness, unity, and service is not something she expresses only through her work. It reflects the principles by which she chooses to live.
Our connection became even more meaningful when I was cast in a principal role in her international film, The World Mission, portraying The Principal Dr. Iminathi Rupert. Being entrusted with such an important character filled me with pride and allowed me to experience Mattika not only as a friend, but also as a visionary writer and filmmaker.
A Mission Larger Than a Film

The World Mission is an ambitious international story that combines truth, fantasy, and science fiction. Inspired by global crises, including viral outbreaks, Mattika created a world in which humanity must confront both natural and supernatural threats.
Fantasy creatures and hybrid human and animal beings emerge alongside advanced science, creating a universe where every decision has the power to alter the course of history.
At its heart, however, the film is about much more than danger and survival. It is about courage, unity, loyalty, honor, compassion, and the responsibility every person carries to protect the future.
The story reaches across the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and Southeast Asia. Filming is planned to begin in the United Kingdom before continuing internationally, including in Thailand. Each location was chosen to honor cultural authenticity while creating a visually powerful and immersive world.
My character, Dr. Iminathi Rupert, holds an important place within humanity’s search for hope, immunity, and survival. To portray her and help bring Matika’s vision to life is an honor I carry with tremendous gratitude.
The World Mission represents the heart of its creator. Mattika believes stories can cross borders, unite cultures, awaken compassion, and remind humanity that hope remains possible, even during its darkest moments.
Andrea:
When people hear your name, they often think about your many accomplishments. How would you introduce yourself to someone unfamiliar with your work?
Mattika:
I would introduce myself simply as a woman who has learned to turn challenges into purpose.
I was born in Thailand and later built my life in the United Kingdom, carrying with me the values of discipline, courage, compassion, and perseverance.
I have worked across business, property, publishing, film, community leadership, and humanitarian projects, but I do not define myself only by titles or achievements. At heart, I am a mother, a storyteller, a creative thinker, and someone who genuinely wants to help people believe in themselves again.
Success is not only about what we accomplish for ourselves. It is also about the hope we give to others, the communities we strengthen, and the lives we touch along the way.
Andrea:
Looking back at your childhood in Thailand, who helped shape the woman you became?
Mattika:
One of the greatest influences in my life was my older brother, whom I lovingly called “Father.” He was my mentor, protector, and the father figure I looked up to throughout my life.
He taught me that true strength is not measured by power or success, but by integrity, discipline, courage, and how we treat other people. He believed that no matter how difficult life became, we should never lose our dignity or compassion.
Whenever I faced challenges, he encouraged me to continue moving forward, learn from every setback, and believe perseverance would eventually open new doors.
Although he is no longer physically beside me, his wisdom continues to guide my heart. Everything I create and every life I hope to inspire is, in many ways, a tribute to the values he gave me.
Writing With Purpose
For Matika, writing is another form of service. Through books, screenplays, film, music, and storytelling, she creates worlds that entertain while carrying messages of courage, kindness, and hope.
Her words are inspired by life, adversity, cultural connection, and her belief that one person can create meaningful change. Writing allows her to transform personal lessons into stories that may help someone else feel seen, understood, and encouraged.
The World Mission is one of the clearest expressions of that purpose. It reflects her ability to combine imagination with real human concerns, creating a story that is visually ambitious while remaining rooted in compassion and our shared humanity.
Andrea:
What inspired you to create The World Mission, and what do you hope audiences carry with them after watching it?
Mattika:
The World Mission was born from my belief that stories have the power to bring people together, inspire hope, and remind us of our shared humanity.
Throughout my life, I have met people from many cultures and backgrounds. Although our languages, traditions, and experiences may differ, our hopes, fears, and dreams are often the same.
I wanted to create more than an entertaining film. My vision was to combine adventure, emotion, and imagination while encouraging people to reflect on loyalty, honor, courage, compassion, and unity.
I hope audiences leave believing that one person can make a positive difference, that kindness is a strength, and that hope is something we should never lose.
A Dream Recognized by Guinness World Records™
Mattika’s journey has also earned international recognition. Becoming a Guinness World Records™ title holder was a deeply emotional milestone, representing years of perseverance and belief in a dream others once considered impossible.
For Mattika, the honor was never simply about holding a record or receiving another title. It represented the courage to continue believing, even when the outcome was uncertain.
Andrea:
Of all your accomplishments, which one has touched your heart most deeply?
Mattika:
Receiving my Guinness World Records™ title was never simply about setting a world record. It symbolized years of believing in a dream that many people thought was impossible.
Standing alongside people from around the world reminded me that stories have the power to unite us beyond borders, cultures, and backgrounds.
What moved me most was knowing my journey could encourage someone else not to give up on their dreams. Awards may recognize an achievement, but inspiring hope in another person’s life is the greatest reward I could ever receive.
Success is not measured by trophies or titles. It is measured by the lives we touch, the kindness we share, and the legacy we leave behind.
Andrea:
Was there ever a moment when you wanted to give up?
Mattika:
Yes. I have faced disappointment, uncertainty, personal loss, and obstacles that made me question whether I had the strength to continue.
What kept me moving forward was the belief that every challenge carries a lesson. I remembered what “Father” taught me: never allow temporary setbacks to define your future.
I also found strength through faith, discipline, martial arts, creativity, and the people who believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself.
Today, I see every obstacle as part of my journey rather than the end of it. If my story can encourage someone else to keep going when life feels impossible, then every challenge I have faced has carried a purpose.
Andrea:
Your article is titled The Warrior Who Chose Hope. What does being a warrior truly mean to you?
Mattika:
Being a warrior is not about fighting battles against other people. It is about having the courage to face life’s challenges with integrity, compassion, and hope.
The greatest battles are often the ones we fight within ourselves as we overcome self-doubt, disappointment, loss, and uncertainty.
A true warrior stands firm in her values and chooses kindness over anger, wisdom over pride, and perseverance over fear.
Being a warrior also means protecting those who are vulnerable, encouraging others to believe in themselves, and using our abilities to make a positive difference.
Today, being a warrior means living with purpose. It means leaving every place, every project, and every person a little better than I found them.
Andrea:
Why is humanitarian work such an important part of your life?
Mattika:
Humanitarian work begins with recognizing that every person has value and that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s life.
My partnership with the Rotary Club of Westbourne strengthened my belief that real change happens when people work together with a shared purpose. Whether we support local businesses, organize community events, or create opportunities for people to connect, every effort contributes to building stronger and more caring communities.
I believe success carries a responsibility. If we have knowledge, experience, or opportunities that can help others, we should use them with generosity and humility.
Humanitarian work is not separate from my career. It is a way of life.
Andrea:
When the cameras stop rolling and the awards are put away, who is Mattika?
Mattika:
I am simply Matika: a daughter, a mother, a friend, and someone who is still learning every day.
I find joy in life’s simple moments: spending time with family and supportive friends, walking beside the sea, practicing martial arts, running, reading, writing, meditating, praying, and quietly reflecting on the next chapter of my journey.
I believe who we are in private matters far more than who we appear to be in public. Character is revealed in how we treat people when no one is watching, in the promises we keep, and in the kindness, we show without expecting anything in return.
At the end of the day, I am simply a woman who believes in people, believes in hope, and believes every new sunrise brings another opportunity to learn, create, and make a positive difference.
Beyond the Warrior
Mattika Westgate’s story reminds us that a warrior is not defined by the battles she wins, but by the hope she refuses to surrender.
Her strength was formed in Thailand and nurtured through the love and guidance of the brother and sister-in-law she lovingly called “Father” and “Mother.” Their lessons became the foundation of her character and continue to guide the woman she is today.
Behind the books, screenplays, films, businesses, humanitarian projects, martial arts, and international recognition is a woman who still measures success through kindness, integrity, service, and the lives she has encouraged.
I have seen Mattika’s dedication, creativity, and heart. I have watched her protect her vision and continue working even when the journey demanded tremendous courage.
My love and respect for her extend far beyond her accomplishments. I admire who she is as a woman, the loyalty and warmth she gives as a friend, and the hope she places within everything she creates.
Our shared faith has also allowed us to connect through values that are deeply important to both of us. We believe in love, peace, compassion, and the responsibility to bring kindness into the lives of others.
These beliefs are reflected in Mattika’s writing, her humanitarian service, and the stories she brings to the screen. She does not simply speak about unity and compassion. She works to place those values into the world.
When Mattika considers the legacy she hopes to leave, she does not speak first about awards, books, films, or business success. She hopes people remember how she made them feel, that she encouraged them when they had lost hope, listened without judgment, and treated them with dignity and respect.
That is the heart of Mattika Westgate.
She is a writer, creator, visionary, humanitarian, warrior, and my dear friend.
Most importantly, she is an amazing human being who has chosen to transform adversity into purpose and use her story to help others rise.
For anyone searching for hope today, Mattika leaves this message:
“Your present circumstances do not define your future. Some of the most beautiful chapters of your life may not have been written yet. Hold on to hope, believe in your dreams, and remember that your story matters.”
Your story is still being written.
Your best chapter may still be waiting to begin.
