BEYOND THE STORY WITH ANDREA
TIM RYAN & JENNIFER GIMENEZ-RYAN

There are some people who meet after life has already taught them its hardest lessons. They do not come together untouched by pain; they come carrying scars, wisdom, faith, and a deeper understanding of what it means to survive. Tim Ryan and Jennifer Gimenez-Ryan are two such people, two lives restored by grace and united by one extraordinary mission.
Tim’s journey took him through the darkness of heroin addiction, incarceration, and the devastating loss of his son Nick to an overdose. These experiences could have destroyed him, but through faith, recovery, and a willingness to serve others, his pain became a source of purpose.
Sober since November 1, 2012, Tim is the founder of the A Man in Recovery Foundation and the author of From Dope to Hope. He has dedicated his life to reaching people affected by addiction and reminding families that even in their darkest moments, recovery remains possible.
Jennifer’s journey carries its own testimony of courage. A former supermodel and actress, she knows that outward beauty and success cannot protect a person from internal pain. After facing addiction and personal trauma, Jennifer chose the difficult but life-giving path of healing. With more than 20 years in recovery, she now uses her voice and experiences to advocate for those who may feel forgotten, ashamed, or beyond saving.
Together, Tim and Jennifer represent more than recovery. They represent partnership with purpose.
Their marriage is grounded in a shared love for God and a commitment to transforming suffering into service. They understand one another’s wounds without judgment and recognize the strength required to keep choosing healing, honesty, and hope.
Their love is not built upon the illusion of two perfect lives. It is built upon truth, forgiveness, resilience, and the belief that God can use every broken piece of a person’s story.
Through their work, they enter places many people are afraid to approach. They speak openly about addiction, grief, trauma, relapse, and recovery. Most importantly, they look beyond the addiction and see the human being, the person who is still worthy of compassion, dignity, and another opportunity to live.
Tim and Jennifer remind us that recovery is not simply about leaving something behind. It is also about discovering what God may be calling us toward. It is about rebuilding trust, restoring families, serving others, and allowing our most painful chapters to become a light for someone still walking through the darkness.
Their story is proof that love can grow after loss, purpose can emerge from pain, and two imperfect but willing hearts can become a powerful force for healing.
This is what redemption looks like: not a life without scars, but a life in which those scars are no longer hidden.
A life in which pain becomes compassion, survival becomes service, and faith becomes the bridge between who we once were and who God is calling us to become.
Tim and Jennifer’s greatest testimony may not be found in everything they have overcome individually, but in what they now accomplish together, when two people take the lives God restored and use them together to remind someone else that there is still hope.
