or filmmaker Jared Weesner, true success is not measured only by the doors that open, but by having the faith and courage to refuse those that require him to compromise who he is.

By Jared Weesner

There are stories I approach as a writer, and then there are stories I carry much closer to my heart. Jared Weesner’s is one of those stories. He is my fiancé, the man I am preparing to build a life with, and someone whose journey has allowed me to witness what can happen when a man makes a conscious decision about who he wants to become.

What touches me most about Jared is not simply what he has accomplished, but the commitment he continues to make, to become a man of God, a devoted family man, a loving father and grandfather, and soon, a husband. I have watched him become increasingly intentional about faith, family, responsibility, and the legacy he wants to leave behind. There is something deeply meaningful about watching the person you love choose growth, not because anyone is forcing him to change, but because he understands that the life he builds today will touch the people he loves long after him.

Jared’s story is about more than filmmaking, creativity, or professional success. It is about a man learning that some of life’s greatest accomplishments will never appear on a résumé. They are found in the way we love our children, the way we show up for our family, the promises we keep, the faith we strengthen, and the example we leave for the generations coming behind us.

For Jared, legacy is no longer simply about what he creates. It is about the man he chooses to be.

In Jared's own words

There comes a point in life when success is no longer measured simply by the opportunities you receive, but by the opportunities you are willing to turn down.

As an actor, writer, director, producer, filmmaker, and musician, I have reached a place where I know where certain lines must be drawn. I no longer accept roles involving foul language, sexual references, or sexual activity. I also will not participate in romantic scenes unless they are with my fiancée, Andrea.

These are not restrictions someone else has placed on my career. They are boundaries I have chosen because of my relationship with Jesus, my commitment to the woman I love, the example I want to set for my family, and the man I want to be when the cameras stop rolling.

Faith Beyond the Camera

My relationship with Jesus is the most important part of my life. As my faith has grown, I have had to look more carefully at what I allow into every area of my life, including my work.

I am certainly not claiming perfection. I make mistakes every day. I fall short, and I still have plenty of growing to do. But I have realized that saying, “It’s just acting,” does not automatically make something acceptable for me.

If I am willing to cross a personal or spiritual boundary because there is a paycheck attached to it, or because it is considered entertainment, I must ask myself where that line will ultimately be drawn.

A Legacy My Family Can Watch

I am also a father and grandfather, and that changes the way I view the legacy I am creating.

My children and grandbabies will be able to watch the work I leave behind. I never want to sit beside them and feel the need to fast-forward through one of my scenes, ask them to leave the room, or explain why I portrayed something that contradicts the values I have tried to teach them.

How often do families turn on a movie only to reach for the remote, skip a scene, lower the volume, or send the children out of the room? Perhaps even more concerning is becoming so accustomed to that content that we stop noticing it altogether, allowing ourselves and our children to become desensitized to what once made us uncomfortable

Building Jared Weesner Films

That conviction is a major reason I am building Jared Weesner Films.

I believe movies can be intense, frightening, hilarious, emotional, action-packed, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking without unnecessary sexual content, constant profanity, or material included simply to shock an audience.

We have seen incredible films succeed without relying on those things. Even a PG-13 rating can feel drastically different today from the family entertainment many of us remember, and I believe there are people searching for another option.

My goal is not to judge other actors or filmmakers or tell anyone else where their boundaries should be. I am responsible for my own choices and for everything that carries my name.

At the same time, I do not want to make watered-down movies. I want to create powerful stories filled with memorable characters, suspense, action, humor, sacrifice, redemption, faith, and hope. I want families to sit down together, become completely invested in a story, and enjoy the experience without worrying about what unnecessary scene might appear next.

Choosing Conviction Over Compromise

Ultimately, I am building more than films. I am building something rooted in what I believe and God willing, a legacy my children and grandchildren can be proud of.

Success matters, but never at the expense of faith, family, or conviction.

If following Jesus means certain doors in this industry never open for me, I am at peace with that. I would rather walk through the doors God has prepared for me than compromise who I am merely to walk through someone else’s.

When the credits finally roll on my career, I do not want people to remember only the films I made. I want the people I love most to recognize the man who made them.

Andrea’s Reflection

As the woman who will soon call Jared my husband, those words mean more to me than any title, role, or accomplishment ever could. I see a man choosing his faith, choosing his family, and choosing to build his future with intention. None of us arrives at the person we are meant to be without growth, difficult choices, and grace. What matters is that we continue choosing the person God is calling us to become.

Jared is building films, yes. but he is also building a home, strengthening a family, loving his children and grandchildren, and preparing to become a husband. And perhaps that will be the most meaningful legacy of all: not simply the stories he leaves on the screen, but the love, faith, and example he leaves in the hearts of the people who call him family.
